Here are some websites that might help clarify polynomial operations and factoring.
Polynomial addition and subtraction - http://math.about.com/library/blpoly.htm
Adding polynomials - http://www.regentsprep.org/rEGENTS/math/polyadd/sp_add.htm
Subtracting polynomials - http://www.regentsprep.org/rEGENTS/math/polyadd/sp_subt.htm
Multiplying polynomials - http://www.purplemath.com/modules/polymult.htm and http://www.jamesbrennan.org/algebra/polynomials/multiplication_of_polynomials.htm
Factoring polynomials - http://www.jamesbrennan.org/algebra/polynomials/factoring_polynomials.htm and http://www.purplemath.com/modules/simpfact.htm
In order for my students to earn extra credit, they must visit at least 2 of the sites and comment on both.

adding and subtracting polynomial looks easy if i look at the steps and wats in parethacese beside it
now the factoring part looks a little tricky but maybe not idk i didnt get it
mrs. bentley i get now why you switch around numbers in the expresssion...so i'll have one number go into each....thanks

Oh my wow i just kinda realised your trying to find simpler polynomials to replace the larger ones... Geez it was alot simpler than what i thought! C. McGhee :) :) :)
Thank you for putting these websites out here where i could veiw them, i visited http://www.jamesbrennan.org/algebra/polynomials/factoring_polynomials.htm and http://www.purplemath.com/modules/simpfact.htm they really broke the equation down and explained how you got the answer for each part. I understand the process of factoring polynomials alot better now. A.BLack
Wow thanks for the websites they actually helped me out a little. I still find factoring the polynomials to be a little difficult for me at times.S.Koyle
I understand the factoring a whole lot better since i visited these sites.
